Hibernation: After 3 or more days without eating, an akata can secrete resin that encases it in a noqual cocoon (Hardness 9, 40 HP, BT 18, resistance 5 to magical damage). While inside, the akata is unharmed, doesn't eat or drink, and gains lifesense 30 feet. It bursts free in 1d4 minutes when exposed to extreme heat or living creatures. No Hearing: Immune to auditory effects; automatically fails hearing-based Perception; -2 status penalty to other Perception checks involving sound. No Breath: Does not breathe and is immune to inhaled effects. Salt Water Vulnerability: Salt water acts as acid, dealing 4d6 damage per round of immersion. Void Death: A disease transmitted through the akata's bite.
